  1. In the year 2000, I would say there were three masterpieces released by the Re-Volt community, and to which end all three belong in any self-respecting modder’s copy of the game.

The first of these was Marc Schroeder’s Re-Ville, released in May, and his swansong to the RV community before he left for Half Life and professional game development.

The second was Ye Olde Fun Shoppe by scloink, released in October.

And the third was this, by Antimorph with extra help from Scloink; RV Temple, released in November. Despite being over a quarter of a century old, this track still feels fresher and funner to drive than similar tracks a fraction of its age. Its racing line is forgiving yet rewarding, and the atmosphere is on par if not better than default Acclaim quality.

  2. Very organic track (with heights and valleys). Driveline is nicely visible. Though it requires a little practise to find the path, especially the many possible cuts. Twisty end section in the cave is Very challenging, you might see ghosts down there (similar patterns, that aren’t the same at all).

    Some criticism:

One spot is counter-intuitive to the rest of the track, which is the 90-deg left-hander around the outside of a tree (pond at the inside). Optically, this invites for cutting the tree, however the checkpoint is only placed at the outside. So either make it open for cutting or make a sharper ditch at the corner’s inside.

There is a shortcut for the last corner of the last lap only – that’s cheesy-cheap and nothing to celebrate for proper racing in my opinon.

  3. It’s very good this version is here because the io version actually modified the regular path (before the cave, at the entry on the bridge – car jumps higher and longer on io version) which makes it a slower version, so here on the site the original is the better one.
