So, after a year when I released the Ford Mondeo BTCC....I bring you another real life car....One from Gran Turismo 1! Meet the Subaru Impreza Rally Edition.
This Subaru Impreza is based on the one that competed in the WRC in 1997 and it reached 2nd place due to the legendary driver Colin McRae (RIP).
At a glance, it's all ready to conquer the rally scene (although there's no rally courses in GT1) but this Impreza has 2 strongest features, handling and acceleration. This car is fun to use, but has one huge weakness, top speed. On the straights, that is where it struggles, but on technical courses, it's a beast.
With a 2 liter turbocharged EJ20 flat four cylinder DOHC engine that produces around 600 BHP, it is an exceptional car, with an AWD drivetrain and a 6 speed manual transmission. However in GT2, it is nerfed, reducing to have just 400 BHP and it's slower, being overshadowed by other special models in that game. It gets 0-60 in just 4 seconds and can reach top speed in just a matter of seconds. And don't worry, it has the blue/black colours.
The Impreza Rally Edition is my favourite Special Model in GT1, I love it to bits, and you should to. I also included it's CPU sound aswell. To change it, simply go to parameters, and go to SFXENGINE, instead of the one that's currently using it, change it to the CPU one if you prefer. Enjoy!
UPDATE (28/12/2025): Car has received slight parameter updates and weight is now a bit lowered and slight acceleration buff.

Thanks, now the car feels faster thanks to that small change in acceleration. Now it feels like a Super Pro car. I finished the entire game with the first version of the car on PC yesterday, and I also made it to the Gold Cup with the first version on my phone, but with the first version, I noticed that it was too difficult to keep up with the Super Pros. Now, thanks to the improvement, the car feels more responsive and balanced, perfectly matching its description.
Thank you very much for responding so quickly and for your kindness.
Thank you for your feedback. The car has received slight buff for it’s class so it should be a bit better.
As for your suggestions, you can find those two cars here.
I loved the car, especially the handling. The top speed is fine at 41 mph, but the car lacks acceleration. To be a “Super Pro,” it needs something that can compete with Super Pro cars, and that something is acceleration. It doesn’t need to accelerate too much, but the change should be noticeable and give the Super Pro category a good battle.
For now, the car handles like a “Pro” category car.
I would like that you put the 1997 WRC skin with the tarmac wheels, the car would see perfect with that skin.
Thanks for making a Subaru, if you are reading this, please make more Rally cars, or Pikes Peak cars, like the Suzuki Escudo, or an Audi Quattro.
