Daybreak Raceway, situated somewhere in the heart of Britain, was once a well-established racetrack in the early days of motorsports. Unfortunately, as time went on, the ones in charge of the circuit had to file for bankruptcy, leaving the track abandoned for decades.
A very long time later, a rich individual with more money than sense, longing to relive their childhood years of being at the racetrack, decided to inject an exorbitant amount of money into renovating the course, while maintaining its key characteristics that made it memorable in the first place.
Beyond reworking and renaming the track to Amberdawn Hill, they also extended the track by adding two new variants: one to appeal more for endurance racing, and another to appeal more towards junior categories and drifting events.
This is the extended variant, which comprises of going straight ahead at the start instead of turning right. Once you nail the first chicane, you get a short breather before a series of technical, high-speed chicanes and hairpins, and then rejoining the primary raceline before the long back straight.
The best of the Amberdawn Hill tracks, very well flowing corners with a couple of ones that require a proper setup to nail perfectly. Some of them are taken flat out with full grip, some of them slowly with full grip, some of them can be used with a small slide. Well flowing, straights are not boring and the track isn’t dominated by any time of a corner (slow/fast)
A fast, technical and very fun track, that for my money flows better in reverse, but is by no means a slouch when played in regular manner.
My only point of contention are the slowdown and reversing zones in the parts where cutting is meant to be discouraged; they can be exploited to manage the turn without braking, and have more than once messed with throwables (rocket, shockwave and balloons). Personally, I would prefer to be respawned when cutting, as in your previous tracks.
Would love to see either variant added to the packs!
