How to fill in upload data

Table of contents

This page serves as a guide for Re-Volt World users to better understand how to fill in the various fields contained in the upload form, as not all data is required, and some fields are only required for certain upload categories.

IMPORTANT: if you’re unsure which category best fits your creation (when it’s not a car or track), please refer to the Other Creation Guidelines section in the Guidelines page.

Required fields are marked in orange.

Additional information

  • Unique foldername: this is the subfolder where your creation will be installed. Only use this for cars and tracks/frontends. For example, RC Bandit’s unique foldername is rc, and Toys in the Hood 1’s unique foldername is nhood1. Do not include cars\ or levels\, only input the folder name itself. Do not use this field when uploading car packs.
  • Additional creators: this field is used to list any other authors (both Re-Volt World users or external) who collaborated with you in the creation: separate each name with commas. If you used assets from other people (decal packs, instances…) but said people didn’t contribute directly to the creation itself, do not insert their names in “Additional creators” – credit them in the description instead.
  • Version: it is simple text indicating the release version, for example 1.0 or final. Do not put the current/required RVGL build version here.
  • Version from: it is the date the creation was last modified on. Please use the YYYY-MM-DD format, in this order and with dashes as separators. While this is not a required field, it is still recommended to fill it in, in case you update your creation later down the line.

Track info

These fields should only be filled in for Track uploads (including Arenas and Frontends).

  • Construction: was the track built from scratch, or with the Track Editor, or maybe with an instance kit? Select the appropriate item from the dropdown list.
  • Track Difficulty: set this according to what it is set to in the track’s data. Only for Standard/Sprint/Lego tracks.
  • Track Length: it is the length of the track in meters as it appears in the game. Only for Standard/Sprint/Lego tracks. Do not input any units, just the number.
  • Reverse version, Time Trial time, Practice Mode star: self-explanatory fields, set this according to the track features. Only for Standard/Sprint/Lego tracks.

Car info

These fields should only be filled in for Car uploads.

  • Construction: was the car built from scratch, a repaint of an existing one, or maybe a conversion from another game? Select the appropriate item from the dropdown list. UV remapped versions of existing cars count as remodels, not repaints.
  • Based on: if your car is a remodel, repaint or reparam of another car that’s already on the site, input its unique foldername here. Do not input the car’s displayed name. Do not use this field for skin uploads. If your upload is a Car Pack and your cars are based on more than one existing car, leave the field blank and state it in the description instead.
  • Engine type, Transmission: self-explanatory fields, set this according to the car’s parameters.
  • Top speed: the car’s in-game observed top speed in MPH. Do not input the TopSpeed value from the car’s parameters. Do not input any units, just the number.
  • Weight: the car body’s Mass as per the car’s parameters. Do not input any units, just the number.
  • Acceleration: the average acceleration rate of the car in meters per second squared. It is calculated by converting the car’s observed top speed to meters per second, and then dividing the result by the Acc value given by “calculate car stats”. If you require assistance, several online calculators are available. Do not input the raw Acc value from the car’s parameters. Do not input any units, just the number.
  • Unconventional car: this is completely subjective, set it to “Yes” if applicable.

Skin info

These fields should only be filled in for Skin uploads.

  • For which car: input the unique foldername of the car your skin upload is for. Do not input the car’s displayed name. Do not use this field for car uploads.

Track mod info

These fields should only be filled in for Track Mod uploads.

  • For which track: input the unique foldername of the track your mod upload is for. If your mod affects multiple tracks, leave the field blank and state it in the description instead. Do not input the track’s displayed name.
  • Online multiplayer compatible: if your Track Mod modifies any of the following files from the original track upload, set to “No”, otherwise set to “Yes”: *.fob, *.taz, *.pan, *.fan, *.fld, *.ncp, as well as properties.txt and custom_animations.txt if applicable.
