You didn't expect this one eh? Say hello to the 1986 Matra P29 Concept Car, which was shown in the Paris Autoshow in 1986 by Matra. This is a scratch made model for NFS4 by the amazing author, Butch.

For those who don't know, Matra is a small french company that did aeronautics, defence, telecommunications, motorsports and so on. Acquired by Automobiles Réne Bonnet, Matra was founded during the 1960's and they are known for their success in motorsports, especially the Matra MS670, winning Le Mans 3 years in a row, 1972, 1973 and 1974. Unfortunately, Matra declared bankruptcy in 2003, ending it's services for good.

For this car, the P29 stands for Matra's 29th prototype model. Called the French Fugitive, the Matra P29 is a unique concept car. With a weight of just 840 KG with a 4 cylinder turbocharged engine with an output of 255 BHP, it gets from 0-60 in just 5 seconds and achieve a top speed of around 225 KPH with an AWD drivetrain.

The P29 was high tech for it's time, having a radar sensor to tell the driver of the road conditions, a telephone incorporated in the car and so on. It has a unique design that stood out, but unfortunately, the car did not go into production because of Matra's parent company, Renault, told them that the car is not meant to be sold to the public. It is resting in Matra's museum in France. Although forgotten by automotive historians, but the Matra P29 is still a technological marvel.

    Enjoy!
