The VR-4 was the range topping model of the Galant, primarily created for Group A competition until it was succeeded by the Lancer Evolution in 1992. Mitsubishi continued to offer the VR-4 on later generations of the Galant which, like a few cars of the time, ended up becoming a popular grey import in Europe. An estate version, known as the Legnum, was also available.
