This is a great track! I was expecting it to become an all-time classic, but to my surprise, it is not all too popular currently, as far as I know (but I’m not much in the Re-Volt scene anymore, so maybe it gets raced more than I am aware of!). The tunnels of the track do what made The bunker great and improve on it. A fun and tricky raceline, with amazing graphics. The outside part has a bit of a different style, with the entire terrain having a single texture page, instead of it being mapped to different parts of one. I saw this technique previously in Come to the Garden, but javildesign’s version works a lot better, of course partly caused by the bigger texture page size that was now possible. Personally, I think it actually works quite well!
The parts that you actually race on do have high-res textures, and look good. The racing line is very good also. I am not sure on the theme, as who is supposed to drive on something like this? Surely full size cars couldn’t make it through. :P But the turns and elevation changes are really fun, the constant risk of being shot of the track is exciting, and the two split paths are both great: in both cases both paths are fun to take, and it doesn’t seem like one is overpowered compared to the other. The AI is good and takes all paths. Challenging and satisfying races here!
The outside area surroundings have, as mentioned previously, fairly simple textures, but in this way they add a lot to the feel of the track without distracting from the race. The stream that you pass by, with water running between rocks, is amazing.
If there is one thing that I am not very fond of in this track it is the music. What’s cool is that it was made by javildesign himself, in an application for Playstation called Music 2000. That’s nice, but I don’t like it myself, and I also don’t think it adds a lot to the race.
But if that’s the only thing I can complain about… this is a great track! Definitely a must-have.
