Office 1
Standard Track Sunday, 15th February 2026 |
Thanks a lot for the very positive and constructive feedback that now made racing on this track more enjoyable! I committed to every idea I had to make Office 1 less narrow while keeping the same raceline (10 changes total). This means every aspect of the track needed to be updated and tested to fit the new size, including the start line. Oil slicks have been taken into account at every turn, giving a bit more visibility, more paths to avoid them and more space to recover better (the whole meeting room - and consequently half of the track - has been shifted only because of oil slicks). Pickups have been stripped down to the bare minimum, you won't get any for taking fast lines. I will add pickups incrementally depending on the global feedback. It's only while experimenting with this update that I realized how narrow the original track really is. Working on it for 3+ years completely warped my vision. The planned update adding scrapped instances like the printer will fill the new empty space. But for now, I will go back to the big break I had also planned :) Please enjoy! (and to answer the enigmatic line in the track description: these work rooms are inspired by the 90s Re-Volt devs' office - I probably had the pictures in my unconscious while creating the textures)

Skin Sunday, 21st March 2021 |
This skin is from a PC game called "RC Racing". It's instantly recognizable. This is a faithful adaptation, with additional details. Nice work!

Cake
Standard Track Saturday, 20th March 2021 |
The raceline has a good flow once you're familiar with it, except for some blind corners or the lighting that hides parts of the raceline. The section above the stagnant water is not well lit, especially for the last turn, where I kept falling because there are no lights clearly revealing where the edges of the platforms are. Single player races can be very chaotic at times, with cars piling up at doorways and dropping unavoidable oil slicks. Textures and track lighting are gorgeous, but what I like least about Cake is by far the objects lighting. The cars are not integrated in the environment at all, some very dark sections have zero lights to darken the models. This breaks the immersion a bit. Overall I feel that Cake does justice to the Portal universe as a Re-Volt track. Don't let the learning curve discourage you and this track quickly turns into a fun experience.
