The Toyota 222D is a prototype rally car from 1984 based on the MR2. Toyota intended to run the car under the gestating Group S regulations, which limited engine power to 300hp. Group S was set to replace the infamous Group B regulations from 1988 forward, but several fatal crashes caused FISA to ban the Group B regulations for 1987, wiping out plans for Group S along with it.
