The result of combining the Fairground and Home tracks together...

Green J here again, with another one of my "wacky tracks". If you liked the weird Lava Circus track, you'll love this even weirder track...

Welcome to the Warped Farmhouse, the second of my original Re-Volt tracks, now with better shading!

Based on my grandparents' house in Sidney, NY State, this track takes you through:

    • A 1950's built country house
    • Invaded by plain, twisted chaos!

Major credit to G_J and I Spy for generously allowing me to reuse the assets from their Fairground and Home tracks in addition to inspiring me to make this track!

Comes with a time trial challenge time, two stars (Practice and global), and once again, two versions of the track:

    • The main version - for regular gameplay and casual/competitive sessions
    • The tournament version - for tournaments and other special events (custom Championship cups not included)

Again, you need RVGL 21.0930a-1 or later for the track to work properly.

Caution: It might be preferable to play the tournament version if you really think the main version is too distracting, weird, and/or scary for you.

Feel free to comment here if you have any ideas on how to enhance the track.

  1. I like it quite a bit! The racing line isn’t super satisfying, but it’s good enough. This track gives quite a unique experience though, with the doors swinging open, the spinning dice, and the vortex. The music was composed for the track, and is really cool. With a less up-beat, more spooky theme, or without music at all, this track would have had a very different mood. This one fits the track though, and makes you want to race! (it also has a great loop!)
One downside about the door animations is that you need to be in the front to experience them, as otherwise they will already have happened. They reset each lap, though! Another tricky thing is that there are some doors in the track that do NOT swing open, so if you are in first, it can be hard to tell where you’re supposed to go. :P The track’s graphics are good: some parts from the Fairground and Home tracks were reused, with the authors’ permission.
This is a track you should try out! And you should also read the readme: it’s full of cool stuff. :D

By default, the doors that swing open do not have collision. This takes you out of the experience a little if you drive through them, in my opinion. However, gladly, TheGreenJ did provide their collision! Apparently the files weren’t included by default because the AI could have issues with it. I haven’t noticed that, however, so this is my preferred way of playing the track. :)

Night Farmhouse is an alternative version of Warped Farmhouse. This ‘tournament version’ was designed for competitive play, and removes many of the elements that make Warped Farmhouse a unique track, such as the music and the fun special effects. Surprisingly, the swinging doors are still here (once again by default without collision).
Overall, I think it would be fine to play the regular track in competitive play. Even Illusion has been in plenty of tournaments… ;) and because this version takes away most of the unique artistic inventions, it makes the track a lot less fun to play, in my experience. So I would recommend playing the regular version!

  2. This one’s really good! I’m very glad to see a more exciting raceline than in the previous track. I hope you’ll create more content, for the fun races but also because I’m curious about further ideas for surprising content and more music. :)

  3. I actually WAS careful at texture mapping. You see, I had to modify the edges of the exterior walls to fit the door and window.
Also, when I tested the mirrors, I spotted the grass underneath the kitchen floor. That’s why I went more with the ENV than the mirrors.
And in Paperman’s case, the tournament versions of my tracks tone down the craziness and distractions of the main version to help players focus on their goal(s) during competitive events and tournaments.
I hope you can understand these. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.

  4. Wow. This is your second track and you’ve made it. What will be next?

The track is full of very interesting and crazy ideas. I really like the way doors open and windows break. But I would like to see more shading and, as Kiwi already said, more carefully texture mapping. You could also make the toilet floor mirrored rather than just having an ENV. But I really liked the track as a whole. This is a good example of how to use the RVGL features.

  5. From a different perspective, the tournament version might feel more bleak. The beep of the tv is enough to cause panic :)
I really like the gimmick of the doors opening sequentially.

  6. This one is awesome (again). EXCELLENT use of a lot of RVGL custom features. Very fun and diversified raceline. A lot of unique and crazy ideas implemented. Genius self-composed music track. Great improvement with the shading compared to your Lava Circus track. You are a very talented person, and I really dig the work you are doing. Keep improving, can’t wait to see more!

Hint for improvement: Be more careful at texture mapping. I spotted some distorted textures (example: main preview pic).
