This track is a bit of a mystery to me. It does include a readme, fortunately, although it is missing the date. According to Re-Volt XTG, this track was published in January of 2001 Popopupulechef. So it’s quite an old one. Popopupulechef has made no other tracks, as far as I could find. What confuses me is that this track has nothing to do with Pokémon, and Pikachu is the name of the most well-known Pokémon. But the readme does state “note : I didn’t know what name to give it.”. Anyway, I don’t like the graphics of the track. They are pretty dull, and I think the track is supposed to have a dark atmosphere, but it’s not really working for me. The incessant thunder sound is annoying. I think the celebrity photographs (at least I’m assuming that’s what they are) are a bit weird, especially the one that fades to a P…
the track design is pretty good, though! It is an easy track, but it is a fun track. It seems like the AI was left unmodified from what the track editor generated, but that’s fine, as the track is simple enough for it to work well.
It’s a shame the track doesn’t have a clearer or better executed theme, as gameplay-wise it’s pretty fun. But as it is… I wouldn’t say “Pikachu, I choose you”. :3
