Phat Trucker
Rookie Car

Thursday, 24th July 2025

This big rig has some interesting perks. It's the heaviest car in I/O races in Rookie class. I'd say Phat Trucker is the best car to handle pickups I've ever driven. Those fat rear tires grip even on oil. Lands always right (how does it do that?). There are even some true wall blocking abilities against flying cars from behind through the huge model, probably argumented by the long pipes. Despite its slow turning... if you go off the gas, it can take turns quite tight. So it requires a special driving style. But one mastered, rock-solid on all terrains. A surprisingly effective car, despite being actually slow.

BossVolt
Advanced Car

Thursday, 3rd July 2025

When using a battery, this big rig enters god mode. Its additional wing must be the reason, as turns can be taken in an instant! Should the tall machine fall over, no problem, as BossVolt will demonstrate some exceptional self-righting capabilities. In races with items, oil is the enemy. Tiny wheels and short axle base make it spin really easy. But on the other hand, it tanks all of the exploding items very well, maybe better than all other cars I've seen so far. I'd say it's an optimal choice for races without items, as the pure speed is there everywhere, minus terribly tight corners to be fair. Pushing and blocking against other cars works excellent. So a very powerful item-dependant machine.

Spa-Volt 2
Standard Track

Monday, 16th June 2025

@Ato: The Spa-Volt tracks are always monsters to load. The many details have their price. Try to launch RVGL with command line paramenters, like this: rvgl.exe -noshader -cubevisi It should simplify the graphics a little.

Hyperborean Harmony
Standard Track

Monday, 16th June 2025

A track with a beautiful atmosphere. Especially in the cave, all the crystals and lights. Well placed pickups. Only a few and always with a slight risk / trade-off. And the S-Curves at the start are probably one of the best passages of all tracks in RVGL. A little bit too much risk... things might end in the deep pit or be the ultimate racing line.

Wipeout 2097
Standard Track

Monday, 26th May 2025

This track is very different from what you'd except in Re-Volt. Drivingwise, I'd say that cars of all classes fit here well. It invites for risk taking at the inside of every corner... but too much will to much for certain flimsy cars and they'll roll over... probably some unexpected cars will shine here. This track is unique in a way that it offers a kind of broader limit to get used to. Maybe it's sometimes even faster to go for the outside of the banked corners? Such a simple track but so many options to drive it. Best Hilaire-Track.

Blobster
Rookie Car

Monday, 21st April 2025

Very versatile machine. Good acceleration, good top speed. In general, stable cornering with the excellence of barely losing speed, but always with the option to brake and twist this big machine around tight spots. But then there are elevation changes. Blobster has the tendency to bug around on even minimal slopes. I think this really takes time to master, but a sensitive being probably can control it and win everything in Rookie class with this car then.

Swish KX2
Rookie Car

Friday, 18th April 2025

Certainly an interesting look, that body shell, which could be made out of one single piece. It looks eco-friendly and futuristic in a very funny way. An interesting weakness on slopes, where Swish tends to get punched away from its straight line. Just wondering, would that be a more accurate behaviour if it had only 3 wheels (1 front wheel)? But the narrow front axle would explain it as well. The acceleration is certainly excellent and makes me wonder, if it's on the edge of being too fast for Rookie class.

Iron-Y
Advanced Car

Wednesday, 16th April 2025

The Cybertruck is a design legend already and definetly deserves some derivates in RVGL. Maybe leap over to a little racing game being called "Generally" to find some other intesting low-poly designs. The handling of the Iron-Y fits. Surprisingly big car, too low ride height for bumpy roads, but sticks to every other flat surface like it's futuristically glued to the ground. Fast electrical boosted acceleration. Too fast in fact for Advanced Class. I'd put it 1-2 classes higher. Cool name as well. Just a nice little nuance, if there is some witty wordplay behind it.

Sorrow
Amateur Car

Saturday, 12th April 2025

A car with front lights that look like it has wept other something. Numberplate and bumperlights could underline the "sad face" even more to make this car look even more special. Also: Not enough station wagons / estate cars in this game!

Flyeca
Misc. Car

Saturday, 12th April 2025

The future of RVGL racing. But the tracks aren't up to the task yet with checkpoints being too tight. I haven't studied physics, but doesn't this car get a little bit too fast when being in flight?
